I spent a gorgeous afternoon last Fall visiting with my best friend and her daughter. We only had 20 minutes to capture something special but the love runs deep here. Time stands still when we are together and I am reliving my childhood while marveling at the beauty of these two women. The gift of friendship is priceless!

This was the second year that my son ran in the New Canaan Turkey Trot to benefit the Open Door Shelter. The number of entrants doubled from last year's which is great since it's a fundraiser. This year it was held on the cross country trails at Waveny Park. It's an event that I enjoy photographing since it involves everyone from little kids to seasoned pros and mature (extremely fit) adults. He came in 4th overall and won first place for his age group, wow! You can see pictures from this event here.
This was my first year planting a vegetable garden. I chose some fairly unique varieties of tomatoes simply because I liked the way they look. I'm sure that I made plenty of mistakes like planting too many, not staking them well enough and letting them get too leggy. Needless to say, I'm enjoying my beautiful tomatoes! I made the most gorgeous salsa and am going to try drying some next.

I love everything about Nantucket! The roses that were incredible this year, the fairy tale perfection of trimmed privet hedges and perennial borders, riding a bicycle everywhere, the grey fog that settles in often, the surf and the sound of the ocean that lulls you to sleep at night.

Mary Joy and Joe wanted traditional details for their second wedding. The theme was a celebration of the joining of two families with a ceremony at the quaint Talmadge Hill Church and reception at Woodway Beach Club. The Weather was perfect and having a tent wedding on the water is one of my favorite wedding styles.

This wedding took place at the Greenfield Hill Congregational Church just as the Dogwoods were at their peak. The reception was held at The Burr Homestead which was decorated in a beautiful ivory and gold color palette. I was second shooting with Joanna Fisher who needed help photographing the details while she concentrated on capturing the bridal party. I love details so I was basically in heaven here!
This has been a tough winter in New England. We've had record amounts of snow and a lot of cloudy days. Spring is in the air and the sun came out after a recent snowfall, so I ran over to Ambler Farm to test out my new Rolleiflex. The trees have been tapped for Maple Syrup production-something that I've always wanted to try on my own trees. I'm hearing that the sap is running slowly this year and production is down, more about that later. I am loving the square format of my Rollei!
My son attended the Hyde School Summer Leadership challenge in Bath, Maine this summer. He developed a bit of a following on the track since he is fast as a whip. School just started today and he is excited to be on the varsity cross country team. I'm looking forward to his next meet and I can't help but show my Hyde pride!

It's crazy that it's nearly Memorial Day and I'm still blogging snowy scenes. I shot Kerry and Justin's engagement at the Brooklyn Botanical Garden in March. The landscape was beautiful and we were excited to find some snow still on the ground. I think that Kerry and Justin bring the fun with them wherever they go! Their Fox Hollow Country Club wedding is coming soon.
I met Allison and Brian this winter when they came to discuss their August wedding with me. We made a great connection and during our meeting it started to snow. It was all the inspiration that any of us needed to race outside for a spontaneous portrait session. I love what can happen in fifteen minutes!

I love the holidays and I'm big on decorating. Since we're just moving into our cottage, life is a bit more hectic this year. I have a lot of packing still to do before we have emptied the main house and I just couldn't see putting up a Christmas tree. Last year I decorated the cottage for Christmas and took pictures of my holiday table. It's fun to look back on them and appreciate how empty the space was before we occupied it.
